Two new trailers...Not sure on one of them...

Here's a trailer for the new Transformers animated series. I'm undecided on it, I'm not sure if I like it. What do you think? I can't embed them here so click the link and check it out:

Transformers Animated

Now this one I'm excited about. The animation looks like The Batman (which I love). I present to you THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER MAN!

The Drought

I'm freaking bored. Sure I've been busy working and writing the book, but I just beat The Darkness and I swear afterwords there was an audible "ticking" sound coming from the box. It's almost time to trade that in but there's one problem: there's nothing out there that I want yet.

There are some good ones coming out in August, and I'm sure Blue Dragon and Two worlds will be incredible, but I want something now. Prototype told me not to dare buy Splinter Cell again, even though the DLC finally came out for it. Anyone have any suggestions?

July has also turned into quite the Nerdgasm month with E3 and Comic-Con both within a couple of weeks of each other. My girls were watching Day 2 of the coverage on G4 and they pretty much decided that they want to go there next year so it looks like I know when to take vacation next summer.

I swear my kids are the only six year old girls that will dress like Disney Princesses and watch one of "Daddy's Movies" (Star Wars, Super Hero Movies, or hell, even the show Ninja Warrior). There beautiful and like "geeky" stuff like video games and movies; I think I'm raising the perfect women.

While watching Comic-Con they asked why there were so many people in costumes. I told them that's part of the fun of the show and they were all for it. So one of my daughters is going to be Harley Quinn (by the way, her name is in fact Harlee Quinn. I got to pick that one) and Victoria (I wanted to name her Ivy but I lost that one) will be going as Poison Ivy, which she was for Halloween last year and looked fantastic. I put together her costume because I couldn't find one that I liked and it came out perfect.

So what does that mean for Mommy and Daddy? I know for me it means I have some working out to do because I'll be damned if I'm going to be "Fatman" instead of Batman. The wife has to decide what she wants to be but, I'm sure, if it's a tight fitting outfit she'll be in full diet mode starting now :).

We'll be bringing secondary costumes too because we'll be there the entire time and I want it to be memorable for the kids. And what if they outgrow the phase of liking Daddy's stuff? Then at least I'll have some blackmail pictures to show future boyfriends.

Uhhh...what?

Watch this video and tell me what the hell it's about:

Is it just me or does that voice not sound right coming out of this kid?

**YAWN**

Man this sucks. After E3, when the industry shoots it's collective wad, the news really dries up.

No More Moore...

I was going to do a nice post today about now that the dust has settled on the new E3 what do we have to look forward to but look what happened. Peter Moore, big cheese at Microsoft, has submitted his resignation and is heading over to head EA Sports. Even more interesting is the fact that Don Mattrick, a former president of Electronic Arts, will take on Moore's job.

Just what is going on here? This was a big ol' shock, especially after Microsoft strong showing at E3. Was it Moore's talent playing Rock Band that got him the job? Probably not, but here's to making Microsoft "Crank it up to 11" and getting the 360 out there

\_/ \_/

So does this mean we can expect Madden tatoos now?

Is Sony Bringing the Pain?

The Sony press conference is about to get underway. My predictions:

1. Since MGS wasn't mentioned at the Microsoft Conference I'm sure Sony's going to talk it up here.

2. Some more Final Fantasy talk

3. An new PSP

4. Lots of talk about Home

5. There will be more spin than a washing machine

Let's see what's going on...

------------------------

2:31 - It's starting. Techo music and random playstation videos are on the screen. Jack Tretton on the screen via Home (Kind like Nintendo did with the Miis). This is a walkthrough of home. I still can't shake the feeling that this looks like Second Life.

Now Tretton's on stage. Nothing major going on right now, just intro stuff. Talking about the price cut and the 80Gb PS3. Commercial Break

-----------------------

Nothing major yet...

-----------------------

And we're back.

MONTAGE!! GoW, Silent Hill Origens and Patapon are being shown off for the PSP along with some others such as Tiger Woods, Sonic Rivals 2, The Sims 2: Castaway, SWAT: Target Liberty, FF: TActics, Castlevania

-------------------------

At this point I went to the pool and taped the press conference. This will also let me break it down a little better.

---------------------------

The new PSP is slightly smaller, I wouldn't exactly call it a redesign.

I'm watching Kaz Hirai right now. He's talking about the redesign. When the PS2 went to the slimline that was a big deal, this really isn't. They say it's 33% lighter, the battery's longer, blah blah blah. It can be hooked to your TV and that's nie and all but can't you do that with just about anything? It's not like it's a camera.

The connectivity deal with the PS3 and PSP is kinda pointless, in my opinion.

Tretton is back on stage and, I have to say, he's not much of a public speaker. His jokes fall flat (the Chewbacca thing was painful to watch) and he just doesn't have the "presence" of Moore and Reggie.

Phil Harrison is talking about the Playstation Network. He just took a potshot at Microsoft at their file size limits for downloadable games. Didn't Microsoft just change thier limit size?

He's showing off Echochrome which is a puzzle game with simple looking graphics. It looks like it was totally done in Adobe Illustrator. It's actually very cool looking.

The next game is Wipeout HD. It looks good, but it looks like Wipeout. It's not a bad thing, just nothing groundbreaking.

Pain is next. Think of Jackass the game.

Warhawk. This one actually looks very cool. It looks fun and the fact that ground units are present is cool.

SOCOM. or was it GRAW? it looks the same as GRAW, maybe a little choppier.

They will all be available as Downloads or retail product which is an interesting strategy.

Singstar looks ok but it's going to get totally overshadowed by Rock Band. Yeah you can make videos, but that's why God invented youtube.

Here comes Home again. I swear it's Second Life with extra features. You can launch multiplayer games from it but where is the voice chat and friends list? Harrison sucks at Motorstorm BTW.

Mr Personality, Jack Tretton is back. Talking about the Price Cut again and the 80GB system. NCsoft will be providing exclusive games for the Playstation Network. No specific games were announced.

They are talking about Haze being an exclusive "for the holidays" on the PS3. Was that a FMV intro? 1999 called, They want their tech back.

Haze looks very cool but the announcement about Unreal Tournament III got me a little heated. Why is it a time exclusive?

That are showing CoD, Assasins Creed, Kane and Lynch...this could be a MONTAGE!!!!

RE5 is being shown now, along with Burnout and Madden everything else EA...I think they just borrowed Microsoft's Montage. That bad Montage Manners...

The console race really isn't going to come down to third party games, it's really up to the first party games. Apparently Metal Gear Four is still a PS3 exclusive (for now). Kojima-san is on stage to introduce the new trailer. He did confirm that MGS will be the last MGS game and it will also be Kojima's last game. Everything everone had questions about will be answered in this game and this will conclusivley end the series.

I just watched the trailer...If there was one game that would make me want a PS3 that would be it. When the hell did Raiden become a badass? Kojima said this is all real-time footage. Very impressive...

Uncharted looks very cool, definate Tomb Raider/Indian Jones vibe to it.

Suckerpunch (makers of Sly) have a new sandbox game called Infamous that bridges the line between Hero and Anti-hero. It looks like a darker version of Crackdown with actual super powers.

Gran Turismo 5 Prolouge's up next. Racing games are strickly made to be fast a pretty (like that cheerleader in high school) so that's exactly what you get here. I will say it looks slightlty more realistic than Forza 2, but not by much.

Finally, Killzone 2. Does it live up to the E3 2005 video? It does NOT look like the supposed Gameplay Footage from a couple of years ago, but it does look pretty impressive. Very atmospheric and brutal. This could be one to watch. It sure has the looks, but does it have the gameplay?

So the Press Conference is over. Sony sure had a lot of games and they came out swinging but they were kind of coy with some of the release dates. MGS wan't exactly confirmed for the holiday's, Final Fantasy XIII was nowhere to be found and Killzone 2 isn't out till '08. They need stuff now, not next year. And, maybe I'm alone, but Home doesn't really grab me.

Let's see what the rest of the show holds...

The REGINATOR!!!

I'm late. He's talking about online play. Mario Strikers Charged will have online play as will all of the EA sports games. That's pretty huge, no word if the friend codes are going away. New online RPG and GHIII will be online too with an exclusive Les Paul guitar. MARIO KART WII!!!! coming 1st quarter of 08 and with online play including battle mode! New Wii Wheel for MK and apparently there will be a Wii Zapper, that I missed. Wheel is coming with Mario Kart and the Zapper is coming with Metroid. nice.

MONTAGE!!!! all about how the elderly are playing the Wii and the DS Lite. At this point I don't even think they are competing, they are carving their own niche (The Mass Market).

Saturo Iwata just hit the stage. Commercial.

----------------------

WII ZAPPER WITH METROID!?! That's pretty cool. And at lease now we have confirmation of Mario Kart Wii.

-----------------------

SSBB Is being released December 3rd. Iwata is talking about game for everone, not just one market. Showed a pic of the Zapper, that looks pretty badass. Games should have scalable challenge for all levels of gamers. Miamoto will be out soon! woohoo!!! Iwata's done talking now and they're showing a video of a family playing the Wii. Some Mario Galaxy footage was shown during the video.

Showing Brain Age 2 on the DS in the video. I just can't get into them. This was apparently the "Test Family" for the new games.

Reggie's back. More Mario Galaxy footage. It looks insanely fun. Lot's of flying around. IT'S COMING NOVEMBER 12th!!

New DS Game, Picross, looks fun. My Sims for the DS and Wii looks fun for everyone and High School Musical (Booo) is coming. Rayman 2 is also shown. Vison Training game called "Flash Focus" is coming. Ubisoft has some training games coming out like "My Word Coach" and "My Life Coach". Showing some Wii Sports video about the healthiness of Wii Sports. The Wii is really the system for everyone...they just need new games now in my opinion.

Reggie's back talking about the last big game: Wii Fit, a psuedo sequel to Wii Sports. Comes with a step aerobics looking mat and there is a bunch of mini games in it such as balancing, a DDR type game, headbutting a soccer ball, and yoga. First thought, I'm falling on my ass.

Miamoto just hit the stage with a translator. He is explaining Wii Fit a little more and how the concept for the game came about. I beleive ther eis goingto be an on-stage demo in a second.

Leg stretch was shown that build balance and muscle in the legs. Step Aerobics is being shown now which can kind of be described as DDR. Now showing a sideways twist with a calibration meter like the leg stretch.

Showing off the "Wii Balance Board" now, the controller for Wii Fitness. It measures weight, balance shifting and has applications in other games. Wireless (of course).

They are measuring Reggie now. Shows where his center of balance has shifted and it checks your posture and body mass index (I'm in trouble) You can keep track of you Mii's progress through graphs. The number that is displayed is your Body Mass Index and apparently Reggie is Obese lol.

Showing off the Soccer headbutt now. You have to shift your weight to hit the balls. IN THE FACE!!! Reggie beat Miamoto!

-------------------------------

Commercial break. Wow, it all looks pretty cool an innovative. That's pretty much all you can say about it. The sony press conference is starting soon so let's see what they have to say.

A couple of Updates

Halobox 360 - 20GB Hard drive but it has an HDMI port

New wireless controllers will be available in pink, light blue and dark blue

Live from the Microsoft press conference!

Well, not really. I'm watching the press conference on G4 and will post my comments on what they say here:

---------------------

11:30pm - It's starting now. Morgan Webb looks pretty good but why a pant suit? Hopefully she'll wear something a little more low cut tomorrow.

Five Halo fans from Libertyville, Illinos started the show off by rocking out the Halo theme. They actually sound pretty good. While they're playing a montage (MONTAGE) of Halo screen shots is playing on the big screen. Should have had some multiplayer fottage up there in my opinion. Pwnage to music :)

The chick on the violin is pretty cute in that geeky chick kinda way. By the way the keypad for the 360 controller goes on sale 9/4/07 for 29.99.

The big Kahuna, Peter Moore has just hit the stage. Tatoo's anyone? Let's see...
Every game they show tonight will be coming out this year so that's pretty exciting.

ROCK BAND STARTS IT OFF!!!! Live demo. Very excited about this one. Moore is rocking out with the guys at Harmonix. There were rumors floating around that RB is going to be exclusive to 360 that would be a definate kill shot on sony. Moore apparently sucks at Rock Band becasue he had to be brought back into play a couple times. The chick singing from Harmonix is pretty cute too. lol Moore paused it by accident.

-------------------

Ok. there's a commercial. I apologize is this is a little disjointed tonight. I'm just writing what I see and I will post my impressions during the breaks. Rock band looks pretty cool and I'm thinking, being that it started the MS press conference, that it may very well be exclusive. No confirmation wet so we'll have to wait and see. This looks to be a really strong lineup for this holiday season.

As a little sidebar, I'm getting a feeling that MGS4 may not be as exclusive as Sony would like it. I think that's Moore's next tatoo. If that's the case Prototype is not going to be amused lol.

-------------------

11:46 - They're back and Mass Effect is on. November for Mass Effect...too damn long. Apparently more people will spend more money on games than music this year. 360 is outselling the PS3 2 to 1 and is in a neck and neck race with the Wii as far as console numbers go. 360 seems to be the system to go to for 3rd party games, very interesting. The top 5 games of the last generation were the GTA games and Halo 1 and 2. The top 3 franchises (GTA, Halo and Madden) can only be found on the 360 together.

MONTAGE!! PGR4, Gundam, CoD 4, Stranglehold, GH III, Beautiful Katamari, Lost Odysey, Live 08, Mass Effect, Fatal Inertia, MoH Airborne, Tiger Woods, Ace Combat 6, NHL 08, Assassin's Creed, Spider Man: Friend or Foe, The Simpsons, SC: Conviction, NASCAR, Eternal Sonata, Bioshock, Madden, TH Proving Ground, Crash, Harry Potter, HL: Orange Box, Bee Movie, Rock band, Naruto

Jeff Bell is hitting the stage from Global Marketing. He's talking about the mass market. Scene It is coming out for the 360 built for the 360 and with a new controller. Then they went to commercial...

--------------------

Some clarification due to having to type fast. 360 is the only comsole you can find GTA, Madden and Halo together, GTA and Madden aren't exclusive to the 360 but Halo is. Analysts are saying that the "3 hit combo" will heavily boost sales for the 360 in both hardware and software.

--------------------

11:58 - Naruto video just finished. Jeff Bell seems to be the dedicated "Hey this console is for everybody, stop looking at the Wii" guy. He has just said that Madden and the other EA Sports titles will run smoother than last year (they better, Madden was choppy as hell).

Reggie Bush just came out to give a live demo of this years Madden. Bell just got owned. They game looks a lot smoother than last year and Bell said that Bush "schooled" him. Talking about Live now. 7 million members on Live and I still only play with 5 people lol. ARCADE TALK! 45 million arcade game downloaded

MONTAGE!! Bomberman, Hexic 2, Undertow, Sonic, War World, Sensible soccer, Every Extend Extra Extreme4, Geon, Wing Commander, Feeding Frenzy 2, Track and Field, Spyglass, Golden Axe, Space Giraffe, SPF Turbo, Word Puzzle, Marathon, Poker Smash, Switchball, Tetris Splash, Puzzle Quest, Sudoku.

2 new games tonight!!! Sonic and Golden Axe!

Talking about video marketplace now. Lot's of DL going on. Disney Agreement will bring classics to mp

MONTAGE!!! Going way too fast. Lot's of big movies though, the whole catalog. Includes Touchstone and anything ever touched by Disney apparently.

All movies available to DL tonight! This includes future movies that Disney releases, they'll all be on MP. Rolling out to Canada and Euroupe soon. Elite too!

Shane Kim hitting the stage! I like this guy, more upfront than Kutaragi. Kim;s talking about the games, good thing being that it's E3. Games published by MS recieved an average higher score than other 1st party titles. Talking about PGR4 now (which has motorcycles btw)

PGR4 demo going on right now by two of the developers. Showing off the bikes and they can race along side cars and do tricks to earn kudos. Commercial.

-------------------

It's nice that Sonic and Golden Axe are available tonight but weren't they announced at last year's E3? Big surprise (to me at least) was that a new version of Marathon is coming out for XBLA. And the partnership with Disney and it's properties is HUGE, especially that they are putting the movies out in HD. PGR4 looks good, I'll probably check it out. And apparently MS loves the Montages lol

-------------------

12:20 - Talking about PC titles. Gears of War coming this Christmas with a level editor and some other suprises for the PC. Cliffy B just hit the stage to talk about the windows version. Cliffy's rocking the fauxhawk, should have stuck with the shag do.

Playing co-op with "Rod" over Live on the PC. YOU GET TO FIGHT THE BUG TANK THING IN THE PC VERSION!!! That had better come out for the 360 version or I'm gonna be pissed. New achievements for the PC version too!

Peter Moore is back on stage. Talking more about Live Anywhere and Games for Windows Live. THQ, Eidos and Sega are new partners. Games for Windows Live support is now built into Unreal Engine 3. That's interesting. Now talking about Vista and there's a commercial...

---------------------

Mother Bitch....I wanted to fight the Brumak in Gears since the game first showed it now the PC players get to fight it!?! Interesting question I'm posing here: If Gears is Live Enabled for the PC will it allow cross platform play? And if it does are we gonna get some DLC with the Brumak? I hope so otherwise that segment is really going to anger me.....

----------------------

12:31 - CoD 4 being shown. It sure as hell is nice to be out of WW II. I was getting tired of that scenery. CoD looks hella impressive! Developers of CoD coming on stage for a live demo of the game. On the scroller under the screen - Viva Pinata: Party Animals? Must have shown that during the commercial. Scene it coming with one handed party controller for 60 bucks.

Back to the video. CoD looks scary realistic, very very detailed. It looks a lot deeper than the other CoD's. One thing I've noticed: No yelling. Every character in game is using their headset.

Demo ends with an announcement. CoD MULTIPLAYER BETA OVER LIVE!!! FREAKING SWEET!!!! Check charlieoscardelta.com

Splinter Cell: Conviction coming up now and it's exclusive to the 360, I forgot about that. GTA IV on now. They are showing the second trailer again and Moore confirmed that all footage shown thus far has been from the 360 version and it's been Real Time. Exclusive episodes will be available in the spring exclusivley for the 360.

Now talking about Japanese publishers. VF5 online (WOO!) Ace Combat, Eternal Sonata, DMC, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, Katamari, DDR amd something special....

RESIDENT EVIL 5!!!! Only game shown not coming this year, damn it....

July 26th the full version of RE5 trailer will be available on marketplace...

Assasins Creed being shown in real time now. This looks freaking amazing. The crowd physics are amazing and they all act differently, some help and some hinder. I must play this now!!!!!! This looks like Prince of Persia on steroids! Lot's of realistic combat and coutners in the game. "Boss" characters have their own "chase" AI and will taunt you you if you lag too far behind. CAUGHT HIM BY THE NECK AND STABBED HIM IN THE HEAD!!! Available in November....

Moore is back. Talking about Star Wars, where's he going with this? Ah, it's a build up to Halo 3. New Live action short about Halo 3. Lots of machinery being shown, like a factory and some dude got his head shaved. Showcasing "Real" marines in Halo 3 and the dropship.

Halo GREEN Xbox 360!!! With Halo GREEN Accessories!!!! Now I have to buy it, it's green....Dammit.

Recap of games coming out this holiday.....Blah Blah Blah.

At the End, new Halo Footage from the single player game. Looks like real time...

I SAW ARBITER NEXT TO CHIEF!!!

Abrupt Commercial

---------------------------

I have to say I'm raelly surprised that there was now mention of MGSIV. I was really expecting it. No new Peter Moore tatoo either. The line up looks really strong and like Peter Moore said, they have everything on the table. It's put up or shut up time for Sony, Nintendo's happy doing their own thing. They didn't say whether the Halobox 360 is an Elite or not.....

Speaking of the Elite, why is the Arbiter back? No word on if he's playable or not but he wasn't well recieved in H2, why bring him back?

The fact that there is a CoD 4 open beta is cool. And Assasin's Creen looks amazing. RE5 looks really good and the full trailer will be available later this month. I'm sure there will be new announcements out this week, we'll just have to wait and see. They really didn't talk about any '08 games (other than RE5) so there is probably plenty more to show. No price drop for the 360 was announced (kinda like a big FU to Sony) pretty much saying "Sony, bring the games". We'll see what the week holds in store so I'll talk more later. Godd Night Folks!!!

Happy E3 Week!!

It's the most wonderful time of the year. No not Christmas, it's E3 time baby!! E3 technically starts tomorrow but that didn't stop Sony from making some news today.

It appears the the rumors floating around the various sites were true: Sony has cut the price of the PS3 by 100 dollars bringing it downthe 500 bucks, only 20 dollars more than the Elite. Sony said (via CNN.com) that they predict this will double sales.

What? Double sales? If you cut the price by 200 bucks you could concievably double sales, but by 100 bucks? Not likely.

The PS3 is still the most expensive "next-gen" console on the market and the fact that there is already a price cut on a system that has been out less than a year surley can't be a good sign. In the past year, in addition to the price cut, they have also discontinued the "lower end" model and added an 80gb model at the existing price point. Microsoft has been doing well selling multiple skus, so what's the deal Sony? What are they doing wrong?

Is it possible Sony built the hype hole a little too big? Maybe comparing the PS3 to fine dining while comparing the competetors to basically trash wasn't such a good move. The "trash" is outselling you Sony. You still can't find a Wii anywhere but I can build a castle with the amount of PS3's I find in stores. If this doesn't boost sales up like you were expecting what's next? They need something major at E3, it's make or break time for them. At this point unless Megan Fox is bringing it to my house, I ain't buying.

Nintendo has been very quiet in regards to E3 this year. There are rumors floating around of a hard drive attachment for the Wii being showcased but, personally, I think that is would go the way of the 64DD for the N64. I'm hoping that they unviel the release dates for Super Smash Brothers and Super Mario Galaxy. Right now my Wii is basically being used for Wii Sports and RE4. They need some new games to still be considered relevent in the console race: man can not live on the Virtual Console alone.

And that brings us to Microsoft. It's all about the games and features for the years E3. The house that Gates built has some pretty heavy hitters coming this year both exclusive (Fable 2, Mass Effect and some game called Halo 3) and non-exclusive (GTA IV) so thay just have to put up a good showing and not fall on their face.

This is an important year for all three of the major players and it's all going to be on G4 starting tomorrow. Microsoft will also be delivering tons of content through the marketplace over the next few days. Make those hard drives work and I'll post more later!

Happy Bungie Day!! (And some good Virtua Fighter news)

Well today is 7/7/07 which should be the luckiest day in the universe (we'll see about that). Bungie, being all aobut the 7's, has released a special theme and picture pack to commemerate "Bungie Day". The catch? They will be pulled off the Marketplace after today so grab em while they're there.

Yesterday Sega issued a press release in regards to Virtua Fighter 5. In it they took back what they originally said: VF 5 will now feature ONLINE PLAY!! I don't think it's going to be like Dead or Alive meaning that I don't thnk there are going to be 8 person lobbies. I believe it's strictly 1 on 1 to cut down the lag. Anyway, that's one over the PS 3 version :)

E3 is quickly approaching and Microsoft is bringing it all to you in your house again. New content will be going up at a steady pace starting on July 10th, I believe. There are a few demos I'd love to be able to get my hands on:

-Assasin's Creed
-Burnout Paradise
-Splinter Cell: Conviction
-Too Human (I still have hope for this one)
-Mass Effect
-Unreal Tournament III

That's just a few of them. Can't wait to see what E3 holds! I really wish I could go...

And We're Back!

I'm back after a few days of not blogging and there really isn't anything new going on right now. I did however see Transformers and I'm glad to say that my childhood is still intact; the movie was freaking amazing! They stayed as true to the story as they could and the effects in the movie are unbelievable. A couple of highlights:

-There is a fun gag with Bumblebee and a VW bug
-The fact that Optimus Prime has lips is a little distracting at first, but you get used to it over time. The visor comes up, but only while battling
-Megan Fox is very hot and bears a striking resemblance to Tea Leoni in Bad Boys, another Michael Bay film (Thanks to S3 Prototype for comfirming what I thought)
-Starscream didn't have many lines but he did have a bit of a whiney bitch voice

The movie was fantastic and there is definatley room for a sequel.

I've been splitting my time lately between Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and The Darkness. Both games are great in their own right.

-Harry Potter Is probably the best of the Potter games I've played. Think of Bully with Magic Wands and you get the picture.

-The Darkness is super fun. The single player game is engaging and it flows really well. Multiplayer, however, is really great. If you play as Shpeshifters the game playes a whole lot like Prey but amped up. I find it a great strategy to turn into a Darkling, leap and morph with a shotgun. Works almost every time.

Nothing I really want to play is coming out till 8/2 when Two Worlds comes out. I did however just re-install Fallout 2 after watching the Fallout 3 trailer. Definatley can't wait for that one.

That's all for now kids!
